It is separated from the city of Detroit, the metropolis of the US state of Michigan by just over a kilometer. The two cities are connected by the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel and the Ambassador Bridge.
Windsor's economy is based primarily on manufacturing, tourism, education, and government services. The city hosts several factories of the car manufacturer Ford.
In the tourism sector, one of the largest casinos in Canada, Caesars Windsor is one of the largest employers in the city. It attracts many American tourists. The city also has many restaurants and riverside parks.
