Saint John’s of Newfoundland is the capital and largest city of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The city located on the northeast coast of the Avalon Peninsula, in the southeast of the island of Newfoundland near the Atlantic Ocean.

In addition to being the center of provincial public administration, St. John's is a major hub for oil and gas. The province is richly endowed with natural resources, including ore, oil, and hydroelectricity.
