Human Resources (HR) Manager

Description
Our client is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead the human resources function for a growing multi-site manufacturer. Reporting to senior leadership, this role will be responsible for driving HR strategy and day-to-day operations across multiple locations, with a strong focus on employee relations, labor relations, workforce planning, and organizational development.
The successful candidate will bring proven experience within a manufacturing environment and possess strong expertise in employee relations, contract negotiation support, legislative compliance, and partnering with operational leadership teams to foster a productive, engaged, and high-performing workforce.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all human resources activities across multiple manufacturing facilities, ensuring consistency in policies, programs, and employee experience.
- Act as the primary advisor to leadership on employee relations matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinary actions, workplace accommodations, and policy interpretation.
- Support labor relations initiatives, including oversight of collective agreement administration, grievance management, and participation in contract negotiations and bargaining preparation.
- Partner with plant and operational leaders to proactively address workforce challenges, employee engagement, retention, and succession planning initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario employment legislation, labor laws, occupational health and safety requirements, and company policies.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, and talent management initiatives to support organizational growth and operational requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, handbooks, and best practices across all locations.
- Oversee employee investigations and provide recommendations that mitigate organizational risk while maintaining positive employee relations.
- Support compensation administration, attendance management programs, disability management, and HR reporting.
- Identify and implement process improvements and HR initiatives that enhance employee engagement, operational effectiveness, and workforce productivity.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Partner with senior leadership on organizational planning, change management, and workforce development initiatives.
- Minimum 8 plus years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience.
- Mandatory experience within a manufacturing environment; food and beverage manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience managing HR responsibilities across multiple locations or facilities.
- Strong employee relations background with extensive experience handling complex workplace investigations, conflict resolution, performance management, and disciplinary matters.
- Experience supporting unionized environments, including collective agreement administration, grievance management, and contract negotiation support.
- Thorough knowledge of Ontario Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Labor Relations Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, and related employment legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with plant leadership, employees, and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication, negotiation, coaching, and influencing skills.
- Experience leading organizational change and supporting growth-oriented operations.
- CHRP or CHRL designation is preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while balancing strategic initiatives and day-to-day operational priorities.
