The city of Surrey in British Columbia is bounded to the north by the Fraser River, to the west by North Delta, to the east by Langley, and to the south by the town of White Rock, Boundary Bay and the Canada-US border (State of Washington). Seven wards in Surrey are designated town centers: Cloverdale, Fleetwood, Guildford, Newton, South Surrey and the town center encompassed by Whalley.
After Vancouver, Surrey is the most populous city of the 21 municipalities that make up Greater Vancouver and, with a population of over 665,000, the 12th most populous city in the country.

Surrey is home to nearly 900 health-related businesses with the major ones focusing on several life sciences sub-sectors including infectious diseases, marine biosciences, neurosciences, oncology and regenerative medicine.
