Saint John’s of Newfoundland is the capital and largest city of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The city located on the northeast coast of the Avalon Peninsula, in the southeast of the island of Newfoundland near the Atlantic Ocean.

Saint John's is home to much of the population of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is the second largest urban center behind Halifax. In addition to being the center of provincial public administration, St. John's is a major hub for oil and gas. The province is richly endowed with natural resources, including ore, oil, and hydroelectricity.
