I am currently recruiting a Technical Director – Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Processes & Customer Support for a leading international manufacturing company located in Montreal East.

You will join a large-scale industrial manufacturing environment known for its technical expertise, complex production processes, and high standards of quality and operational performance.

This is a strategic leadership opportunity combining technical team management, metallurgical expertise, industrial project management, and customer-facing technical support.

    Position Overview

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will oversee engineering, quality, manufacturing processes, and technical customer support activities.

Your primary mandate will be to drive operational excellence, optimize manufacturing performance, lead engineering and capital investment projects, and develop the capabilities of your technical teams.

Develop technical expertise within the organization and promote knowledge sharing and best practices.

Quality, Manufacturing Processes & Operational Excellence

Oversee manufacturing process performance and drive continuous optimization initiatives.

Lead continuous improvement programs focused on cost reduction, waste minimization, and operational efficiency.

Implement and maintain quality standards while ensuring compliance with technical specifications.

Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and coordinate corrective and preventive actions.

Contribute to product development, materials engineering, and manufacturing process improvement projects.

Technical Customer Support & Customer Relations

Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers regarding product quality, performance, and manufacturing-related issues.

Investigate complex technical concerns and lead the implementation of effective corrective and preventive action plans.

Participate in technical meetings and customer visits to support issue resolution and strengthen customer relationships.

Drive initiatives aimed at improving customer satisfaction and reducing customer complaints.

Engineering Projects & Capital Investment Management

Lead engineering projects involving equipment upgrades, facility improvements, and manufacturing process optimization.

Develop, manage, and monitor departmental CAPEX and OPEX budgets.

Ensure projects are delivered within established budgets, timelines, and performance expectations.

Identify investment opportunities, assess technical and financial feasibility, and present recommendations to senior management.

    Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with quality standards, internal policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Support certification processes and proactively identify and mitigate operational and technical risks.

Work closely with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) teams to maintain a safe and compliant manufacturing environment.

Represent the organization in technical matters involving external stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and relevant government agencies.

    Your profile

Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

Registered member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).

8 to 10 years of relevant experience in a large-scale manufacturing environment, including significant experience managing technical teams.

Strong technical background in metallurgy, industrial manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement.

Proven experience managing industrial engineering projects and CAPEX/OPEX budgets.

Solid understanding of quality management, manufacturing operations, and industrial performance optimization.

Ability to analyze complex technical challenges and provide effective solutions to both internal stakeholders and customers.

Demonstrated leadership skills, strong analytical capabilities, and a results-driven mindset.

Excellent organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize effectively in a complex industrial environment.

Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop multidisciplinary teams.

Fluency in both French and English, required for communication with North American and international stakeholders.

    What We're Looking For

You know how to engage and develop technical teams, challenge existing manufacturing processes, and turn complex industrial challenges into practical, sustainable solutions.
