The Technician Assistant is responsible for the field level scope associated with the various projects undertaken by CSCL. To achieve this objective, the technician assistant’s primary responsibilities are:
- As part of projects in Western Canada, perform close-interval cathodic protection surveys, line cover depth measurements, and voltage/coating gradient measurements on pipeline infrastructure.
- Use helicopters and all-terrain utility vehicles as needed to perform the work.
- Learn to collect, interpret, and understand key data related to cathodic protection, DC interference, and voltage gradients, including analyzing waveform oscilloscope measurements, measuring soil resistivity, collecting pipe-to-ground and rectifier potential data, and performing continuity tests.
- Locate pipelines and describe the site's physical characteristics for later analysis.
- Ensure all required technical reports are submitted to team leaders and project engineers.
- Perform tasks related to field testing and installation of various cathodic protection and AC mitigation projects.
- Maintain and ensure the operational proper functioning of assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Responsible for the profitability of Corrosion Service's products and services in the field.
- Adhere to Corrosion Service's and clients' operational HSE procedures and policies.
- Ensure all required reports are submitted to team leaders and project engineers.
- Complete timesheets and expense reports within deadlines to ensure project cost accuracy.
- Follow stock removal and addition procedures to ensure accurate cost accounting. Knowledge and Experience
- A post-secondary degree in engineering or technology is considered an asset.
- A NACE CP1 or higher designation is considered an asset.
- Must be in good physical condition, willing to work outdoors regularly, and able to lift 30 kg regularly.
- The candidate must have strong practical technical skills, a valid driver's license, and be willing to travel and work overtime.
- Good oral, written, and problem-solving skills are considered an asset.
- The candidate must be bilingual (French and English).
- Proactive, adaptable, flexible, and a team player.• Experience in the oil and gas pipeline industry is recommended.Ready to Take the Next Step?
