We are looking for an experienced Finance leader to join our client in Surrey, British Columbia on a Long-term Contract assignment. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with a hands-on leadership approach and can guide day-to-day operations while supporting a high-performing team. The successful candidate will oversee core accounting activities, strengthen reporting accuracy, and help maintain effective financial processes across development and operating entities.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a small accounting team through coaching, mentorship, and direct involvement in daily work to support capability building and meet critical deadlines.

• Direct month-end and quarter-end close activities, ensuring financial information is completed accurately and submitted within required timelines.

• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable operations, including the monthly billing cycle and timely resolution of customer account matters.

• Manage reconciliations across multiple entities and refine processes to improve accuracy, completeness, and efficiency.

• Prepare and review project-related reconciliations, including capital structure and development property balances, ensuring alignment between the trial balance and project reporting.

• Work closely with analysts and construction or development stakeholders to maintain project listings and support reliable job costing.

• Produce and review financial statements for internal leadership and external reporting purposes in accordance with applicable reporting standards.

• Coordinate regulatory filings and tax-related submissions to ensure obligations are met on time and to avoid penalties or interest charges.

• Support improvements in accounting systems, reporting tools, and technology-enabled processes as business needs evolve.

• Proven experience leading and developing an accounting team of at least two or more direct reports.
• Strong background in accounting operations, including financial close, reconciliations, and financial statement review.
• Hands-on experience with intercompany accounting in a multi-entity environment.
• Solid knowledge of project accounting or development accounting, ideally within real estate development or construction.
• Proficiency with ERP and accounting systems, with experience using tools such as Timberline, Sage, BlackLine, Concur, or similar platforms considered an asset.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong overall technical aptitude.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across finance and operational teams.
• Exposure to budgeting, payroll, or FP& A activities would be considered an advantage.
