We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a finance team in Huron Park, Ontario and contribute to accurate reporting, strong financial oversight, and reliable month-end processes. This position will support core accounting operations across multiple entities, help guide budgeting and forecasting activities, and provide analysis related to project costing and revenue recognition. The role also offers exposure to year-end reporting, audit preparation, tax support, and compliance-focused finance initiatives. This is an in office role for the first 6 months, transitioning to hybrid once the training period is completed.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare journal entries, payroll-related accounting entries, and reconciliations to support accurate general ledger activity and timely month-end close.

• Produce financial reports and review accounting output from accounts payable and accounts receivable to help maintain accuracy across daily transactions.

• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting cycles by assembling financial data, analyzing results, and identifying variances.

• Track project costing and progress billings, including monitoring inventory, invoicing status, customer billings, and revenue recognition over varying project timelines.

• Manage required government remittances and statutory filings in accordance with applicable reporting obligations.

• Develop audit support schedules and assist with year-end working papers, including documentation needed for corporate tax preparation and T4 validation.

• Support accounting activities for two entities and assist with consolidation work required for year-end financial reporting.

• Participate in special finance projects, including compliance-related reviews such as equipment lease validation, while following internal control standards.

• Maintain organized financial records and ensure accounting practices align with company policies and reporting requirements.

• Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience in a senior or intermediate-level accounting role.

• CPA or in progress preferred.

• Strong hands-on experience with journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close activities.

• Knowledge and/ or experience with IFRS and/ or the CICA handbook.

• Proven ability to complete account, balance sheet, and bank reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.

• Experience preparing financial reports and supporting budgeting, forecasting, or cost analysis activities.

• Working knowledge of revenue recognition, project costing, and progress billing processes is considered an asset.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and an ERP program (Oracle Netsuite, JD Edwards, AS 400, MS Dynamics, SAP, etc) in a finance or accounting environment.

• Familiarity with audit preparation, government filings, and corporate tax support documentation.

• Strong attention to detail, sound organizational skills, and the ability to manage priorities across multiple entities.
