We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to support an organization with an upcoming infrastructure modernization initiative. This is a flexible, part-time consulting opportunity focused on assessing existing IT infrastructure, evaluating modernization options, and developing strategic recommendations for future technology investments.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience with server infrastructure, virtualization, cloud technologies, and infrastructure migrations. This individual will serve as a trusted technical advisor, helping evaluate solutions, identify risks, and develop practical, cost-effective migration strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess existing server infrastructure, virtualization environments, and supporting technologies to identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
• Evaluate infrastructure modernization options, including hardware refreshes, virtualization alternatives, and cloud or hybrid solutions.
• Develop technical recommendations and migration strategies for aging infrastructure and operating systems.
• Assess the feasibility of in-place upgrades versus full server migrations or rebuilds.
• Provide infrastructure sizing, capacity planning, and cost considerations for proposed solutions.
• Evaluate VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Azure environments to determine appropriate solutions based on business requirements.
• Develop technical roadmaps, implementation plans, and recommendations for long-term infrastructure improvements.
• Collaborate with internal IT stakeholders and external service providers to validate technical requirements and proposed solutions.
• Provide independent technical guidance on infrastructure architecture, security, scalability, and business continuity.
• Support infrastructure migration planning and implementation activities as required.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a Solutions Architect, Infrastructure Architect, or Senior Infrastructure Consultant.
• Strong hands-on background with enterprise server infrastructure, virtualization, and infrastructure modernization.
• Deep understanding of VMware, Microsoft Windows Server, and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
• Demonstrated experience assessing existing infrastructure and developing migration strategies.
• Strong understanding of server upgrades, hardware lifecycle management, and virtualization migrations.
• Experience with infrastructure sizing, capacity planning, and technical solution design.
• Knowledge of infrastructure security, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity best practices.
• Ability to independently assess technical environments and provide practical, cost-conscious recommendations.
• Strong communication skills and experience advising IT leadership and collaborating with technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience migrating VMware environments to Hyper-V or Azure.
• Familiarity with Dell server infrastructure and converged infrastructure solutions.
• Experience with Remote Desktop Services (RDS).
• Exposure to ERP infrastructure or enterprise application hosting.
• Experience working with Managed Services Providers (MSPs) or supporting vendor evaluations.

Contract Details

This is a remote, part-time consulting engagement offering flexible hours based on project requirements. Initial responsibilities will focus on infrastructure assessment, solution design, and strategic planning, with the potential for additional involvement during future implementation phases.
