Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis for a two-month period. This position is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and requires onsite engagement within an academic environment. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting the institution’s operations through expert accounting practices.
Responsibilities:
• Perform daily bank and revenue reconciliations to ensure accurate recording and prompt resolution of discrepancies.
• Update and monitor the operating budget, comparing actual figures to projected amounts and identifying key variances for review.
• Prepare and post month-end journal entries, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
• Conduct detailed account analysis, delivering insights on variances and financial trends.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, adhering to non-profit reporting requirements.
• Process, document, and reconcile intercompany transactions as needed.
• Manage daily accounting tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, deposit processing, and petty cash oversight.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth financial operations and adherence to policies.
• Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, school policies, and regulations specific to non-profit organizations.
• Minimum of five years of accounting experience, preferably in the education or non-profit sector.
• Proficiency in account reconciliation, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger processes and journal entries.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and financial modeling.
• Experience with month-end close procedures and financial statement preparation.
• Familiarity with non-profit accounting standards and compliance requirements.
• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
