Plant Controller

Robert Half is currently working with a well-established organization in the industrial/manufacturing sector to recruit a Plant Controller for a key operational site. This is a highly visible role that will partner closely with plant leadership and play a critical part in driving financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making.

The Plant Controller will act as a trusted business partner to both finance and operations, providing timely and accurate financial insights while helping to optimize plant performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all plant-level financial reporting, including monthly close, management reporting, and variance analysis
• Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts, working closely with operations to align financial targets with production goals
• Monitor and analyze key cost drivers, including labor, materials, and overhead, to identify opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiency
• Oversee inventory accounting, including valuation, cycle counts, and reconciliation processes
• Partner with plant leadership to provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with corporate policies and financial reporting requirements
• Support capital expenditure planning and tracking, including ROI analysis
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to financial processes, reporting accuracy, and system enhancements
• Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, procurement, and senior finance leadership

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with significant exposure to a manufacturing or plant environment
• Strong background in cost accounting, inventory management, and operational finance
• CPA designation (or in progress)
• US GAAP/IFRS is a strong preference
• Proven ability to partner with operational leaders and influence business decisions
• Hands-on, detail-oriented approach with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders
• 25% Travel required
