    Description

    We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join a team in Ontario on a long-term contract basis. This position is well suited to a detail-oriented payroll specialist who brings strong technical skills, advanced Excel capabilities, and a solid background managing complex payroll operations. The successful candidate will support accurate and timely payroll processing while handling related accounting and benefits activities in a high-volume environment.

    Responsibilities:
    • Administer end-to-end payroll for a large salaried employee group, ensuring payments are processed accurately and on schedule.
    • Review and maintain payroll records related to earnings, deductions, overtime, commissions, and employee benefits.
    • Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries while supporting account balancing and reconciliation activities.
    • Verify payroll data for completeness and accuracy, resolving discrepancies through careful analysis and follow-up.
    • Use advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables and lookup formulas, to analyze payroll data and generate reporting.
    • Support benefit administration tasks by tracking updates and ensuring payroll changes are reflected correctly.
    • Work within payroll and accounting systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, or Dayforce to maintain reliable records and processing workflows.
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in payroll, including full-cycle payroll administration in a high-volume setting.
    • Demonstrated expertise with ADP Workforce Now and strong familiarity with payroll platforms such as Ceridian or Dayforce.
    • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to work confidently with pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
    • Experience handling payroll components such as benefits, overtime, commissions, and payroll accounting entries.
    • Strong understanding of reconciliations, general ledger impact, and related accounting processes.
    • Knowledge of payroll compliance, payroll functions, and benefit administration practices.
    • High level of accuracy, discretion, and organization when working with confidential payroll information.
