Payroll Specialist
Robert Half Newmarket, Ontario
Description
Responsibilities:
• Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
• Manage weekly timesheets, including data entry, overtime calculations, and necessary adjustments.
• Maintain accurate records of employee vacation, sick leave, and deductions.
• Handle union dues remittances, pension contributions, and related compliance requirements.
• Distribute paystubs and ensure payroll transactions are recorded correctly.
• Administer onboarding, offboarding, and termination processes, including generating Records of Employment.
• Input and analyze payroll data using spreadsheets to support reporting efforts.
• Export payroll information to QuickBooks Online and process payments through Telpay.
• Collaborate with the finance team to prepare payroll-related reports and assist with reconciliations.
• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Payroll Administration is preferred.
• Proficiency in Tsheet, QuickBooks Online, Excel, and Telpay.
• Proven ability to accurately transfer payroll data for payment processing.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll administration, ideally within a unionized environment.
• Strong knowledge of payroll functions, benefits administration, and tax accounting.
• Familiarity with systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, and Dayforce.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
