We are looking for a Litigation Associate to join a busy legal practice in Concord, Ontario. This opportunity is well suited to a lawyer with solid commercial litigation experience who is ready to take ownership of files and build trusted client relationships. The successful candidate will handle a varied dispute portfolio, contribute practical legal insight, and work closely with colleagues in a collaborative and focused environment.

Responsibilities:

• Take carriage of litigation matters from initial assessment through to settlement, hearing, or trial, ensuring each file progresses efficiently.

• Prepare a wide range of legal documents, including pleadings, motion records, affidavits, applications, settlement materials, and client correspondence.

• Represent clients at examinations, mediations, pre-trial conferences, and court attendances with confidence and professionalism.

• Develop thoughtful litigation approaches for disputes involving commercial matters, construction issues, employment concerns, and contractual claims.

• Advise clients on legal risk, procedural options, and practical next steps tailored to the circumstances of each matter.

• Work closely with lawyers, clerks, and administrative team members to coordinate file activity and support effective case management.

• Maintain regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, and external experts to move matters forward and resolve issues promptly.

• Monitor limitation periods, court schedules, and procedural obligations to ensure all deadlines and filing requirements are met.

• Minimum of 3 years of post-call experience in civil or commercial litigation.
• Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
• Demonstrated experience appearing before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
• Ability to manage litigation files independently with limited day-to-day supervision.
• Strong written advocacy, oral advocacy, and negotiation capabilities.
• Background in commercial, construction, employment, or contract-related disputes would be considered an asset.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple active matters and maintain strong client service standards.
