Our client is looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join a construction and homebuilding organization in Calgary, Alberta on a Long-term Contract basis. This role will support month-end accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and project-related accounting across residential development and construction activities.

Responsibilities:

• Review monthly accounting packages, including balance sheet and income statement support, for accuracy and completeness.
• Review bank reconciliations and account analyses, identifying items requiring follow-up or correction.
• Assist with financial statements, cash flow reporting, and supporting schedules.
• Handle more complex accounting activities, including project rebates and non-routine reporting.
• Prepare monthly budget reports and compare actual spending against forecasts.
• Compile debt reporting packages, including AP aging, invoices, holdbacks, and trade payments.
• Work with project teams to gather financial information and resolve discrepancies.
• Support construction management accounting, including management fee revenue and related expenses.
• Assist with reporting for residential developments, rental properties, and other assigned projects.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction, development, or a project-based environment.
• Hands-on experience with reconciliations, month-end close, and financial statement preparation or review.
• Practical knowledge of AP, including invoice review, payment support, and aging analysis.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with project and accounting teams.
• Proven ability to manage competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail and sound judgment when reviewing financial information and supporting documentation.
• Experience with budget tracking, variance analysis, or project financial reporting is an asset.
