We are looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join our team in Winnipeg, Manitoba in a contract to permanent opportunity. This role is well suited to a detail-focused accounting specialist who can manage day-to-day financial operations across multiple entities while contributing to accurate reporting and strong internal controls. The successful candidate will play a key role in month-end activities, reconciliations, payroll support, and financial record maintenance, while also building toward broader responsibilities at the Staff Accountant level.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee complete full cycle accounting activities for three separate legal entities, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and consistently.

• Manage incoming invoices, outgoing payments, customer billings, and collections while keeping vendor and customer records current.

• Prepare and record journal entries and maintain the integrity of the general ledger and supporting sub-ledgers.

• Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts, investigating variances and resolving discrepancies promptly.

• Process payroll as assigned and maintain organized, accurate payroll documentation in line with company requirements.

• Maintain fixed asset continuity schedules and other essential accounting records to support reporting accuracy.

• Assist with month-end and year-end close by preparing working papers, schedules, and support for internal financial statements and management reporting.

• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring by providing reliable financial data and analysis.

• Collaborate with operational teams to gather complete accounting information, answer finance-related questions, and support process improvements, controls, workflow enhancements, and automation initiatives.

• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a role involving full-cycle accounting responsibilities.
• Demonstrated experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Proficiency with accounting software systems and related financial tools, including experience with platforms such as ADP, CaseWare, Ceridian, or Concur.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, account analysis, and the preparation of supporting schedules and working papers.
• Ability to process a high volume of transactions with accuracy, strong organization, and close attention to detail.
• Solid communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and respond to accounting inquiries professionally.
• Experience supporting audits, internal controls, and compliance with accounting policies and standards.
