Description
We are looking for an experienced HR & Payroll Manager to lead core people operations and payroll activities for a non-profit organization in Toronto, Ontario. This position combines strategic human resources oversight with hands-on administration, ensuring employees are supported through consistent policies, accurate payroll processing, and effective benefits coordination. The successful candidate will help strengthen HR practices, maintain compliance, and contribute to a well-organized employee experience across the organization.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee end-to-end payroll administration, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule while maintaining proper records and controls.
• Manage daily human resources operations, including employee documentation, policy administration, and support for managers and staff on workplace matters.
• Administer group benefits and related programs, acting as a key point of contact for enrolments, updates, and issue resolution.
• Maintain and improve HR policies, procedures, and internal guidelines to support compliance and consistent practices across the organization.
• Support recruitment and onboarding activities by coordinating hiring processes, maintaining applicant tracking information, and ensuring a smooth start for new employees.
• Deliver or coordinate employee training initiatives that reinforce organizational policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Prepare HR and payroll reports, monitor key employee data, and provide insights to support operational planning and decision-making.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors on HRIS, HCM, and payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, and related systems.
• Assist with HR process updates or system-related changes when required, ensuring minimal disruption and clear communication to employees and managers.
• Demonstrated experience in both human resources management and payroll administration, ideally within a non-profit or similarly mission-driven environment.
• Hands-on knowledge of payroll and HR systems, including platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, or comparable HCM tools.
• Strong understanding of HR administration, employee benefits coordination, and the application of workplace policies and procedures.
• Familiarity with recruitment workflows and applicant tracking systems used to support hiring and onboarding activities.
• Ability to manage confidential employee information with discretion, accuracy, and professionalism.
• Clear communication and training skills, with the ability to explain policies, processes, and payroll matters to a range of stakeholders.
• Solid organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines consistently.
