Our client, Dairy Farmers of Manitoba (DFM), is seeking a General Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for the organization. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager translates DFM’s strategic plan into a clear operational plan and represents Manitoba’s dairy producers provincially and nationally.

As the dairy industry evolves, this role has grown from an operational focus to a strategic mandate, balancing long-term planning with steady leadership. The successful candidate will bring a strong business mindset and change management skills to navigate regulatory and industry shifts, along with the emotional maturity to lead a talented, tenured team while protecting DFM’s culture and stakeholder trust. This is a role built for the long game, where results and relationships are built over years, not quarters.

Responsibilities will include:

• Executing DFM’s strategic plan and leading development of a concrete operational plan
• Getting to know the team and organization, guiding priorities and workloads
• Protecting and strengthening DFM’s culture
• Serving as the face and voice of DFM within the province, the Western Milk Pool and national discussions
• Building strong relationships with Western Canada’s dairy General Managers and national counterparts
• Representing Manitoba’s interests firmly and diplomatically within the national dairy landscape
• Working closely with the finance leader on fiscal responsibility and growth opportunities
• Reporting regularly to the Board of Directors on results and organizational status

About you

You are a principled, analytical and fair leader with the confidence and trustworthiness to earn credibility across a wide range of stakeholders. You are an excellent communicator with a genuinely supportive, positive approach to people management, and the emotional intelligence and patience to lead a valued team through change while protecting a strong organizational culture.

More specifically, you will bring:

• Progressive senior leadership experience, ideally within agriculture, agri-business, supply management or a member/producer-based organization
• Strong analytical and business financial acumen, with the ability to interpret complex policy, pricing and market information
• A demonstrated ability to lead change management and achieve staff buy-in
• Experience leading successful growth in a scaling organization, including new revenue creation
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, managing internal and external stakeholders
• Experience representing an organization to government and industry, ideally in a regulatory environment
• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Agricultural Business or a related field is strongly desired
