Full Charge Bookkeeper

Description
We are looking for an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to support a community-focused organization in Surrey, British Columbia on a Long-term Contract basis. This in-office role is suited to someone who can manage day-to-day accounting activities with accuracy, stay organized in a dynamic setting, and handle sensitive financial information with professionalism. The successful candidate will oversee core bookkeeping functions, contribute to month-end reporting, and help maintain reliable financial records across multiple residences and funding streams.
Responsibilities:
• Manage accounts payable by reviewing, coding, and processing invoices.
• Administer payroll for employees, ensuring earnings, deductions, and wage allocations are recorded correctly and on time.
• Reconcile several bank accounts regularly and investigate discrepancies to maintain accurate financial data.
• Track and organize expense claims, including shared-cost items and supporting documentation required for reimbursement.
• Prepare monthly financial summaries in Excel by entering revenue and expense data and assisting with period-end close activities.
• Submit funding and grant-related claims through designated portals while ensuring general ledger records align with supporting reports.
• Monitor wage and program costs against grant guidelines to help confirm eligible amounts are billed appropriately.
• Maintain bookkeeping records in QuickBooks Desktop and support day-to-day accounting functions across multiple residential locations.
• At least 3 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience in a hands-on accounting role.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Experience processing payroll, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and month-end bookkeeping tasks.
• Understanding of general accounting principles and the ability to keep accurate, well-organized financial records.
• Comfortable working in an in-office environment connected to addiction recovery services and interacting respectfully within that setting.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while meeting deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
• Experience supporting grant reporting, expense tracking, or tax-related accounting activities is considered an asset.
