This long-term contract / temporary Full Charge Bookkeeper position is located in Ottawa, Ontario.




Your responsibilities

-Managing accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers

-Retaining historical records through the accurate filing of documents

-Maintaining knowledge of current federal, state, and local legal requirements, ensuring adherence to them, filing reports, and communicating with management on needed actions

-Tracking fixed assets and constructing depreciation schedules

-Ensuring correct and punctual monthly, quarterly and year end close

-Putting together the trial balance and financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement

-Handling reconciliations for bank and general ledgers, and processing payroll

-Handling processing tasks for accounts payable and accounts receivable, including collections


-5+ years of relevant experience in bookkeeping

-Able to work independently with a minimal amount of oversight

-Ability to multitask and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds

-Experienced in accrual and cash basis of accounting

-Outstanding skills in analyzing financial data and promptly generating accurate reports

-Flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures and job assignments

-High school diploma or equivalent required, and AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business preferred

-Proficiency with Excel, Quickbooks, and Peachtree

-Possess strong organizational and follow-up skills

-Previous experience with payroll preferred

-Billing Functions experience highly preferred

-General familiarity with Accounts Receivable (AR)

-Accounting Software Systems experience desired

-Practical knowledge of bank reconciliations

-Background working with Full Cycle Payroll

-Deep understanding of Microsoft Excel

-Demonstrated knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP)

-Experience with Microsoft Outlook

-Command of ADP Financial Services

-Microsoft Office Suites experience

-Adeptness in Accounting Functions
