Our nonprofit client is seeking a Financial & HR Officer for a five-month contract with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. In this role you will report to the Corporate Services Manager and provide accounting, payroll, and confidential HR administration support

The Finance & HR Officer’s duties will include:

• Process accounts payable, invoices, cheques, and electronic payments
• Prepare and reconcile payroll, statutory remittances, benefits, year-end slips, and ROEs
• Maintain confidential employee, compensation, and benefits records
• Support onboarding, offboarding, leaves, and employment changes
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, bank reconciliations, HST claims, and month-end reporting
• Assist with budget preparation, audit support, and year-end working papers
• Work collaboratively with Tenant Services to reconcile receipts, deposits, and account discrepancies
• Document procedures, support knowledge transfer, and contribute to process improvements
• Other duties or tasks as assigned

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• Postsecondary education in a relevant field, or equivalent experience
• Minimum five years of accounting experience, including accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end reporting
• Demonstrated experience in payroll processing, remittances, and year-end requirements
• Experience with benefits administration and confidential HR records
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft 365/SharePoint, and accounting software
• Yardi and property or construction accounting experience preferred
• Nonprofit or community housing experience is an asset
• Strong attention to detail, discretion, and ability to manage confidential information
• Successful completion of a criminal reference check and job-related credit check
• Ability to work occasional overtime during peak periods such as year-end and audit
