Job Description
We are seeking an Engineering and Drafting Intern (Summer 2024) to join our Engineering / Drafting team located in Mississauga. This position will involve supporting Senior Drafters and Engineers in generating drawings, plans and daily assignments. The role will commence on May 6, 2024 and conclude on August 30, 2024.
Essential functions
Supporting senior drafters and engineers in creating detailed structural drawings and plans
Assist in examining documents such as contract drawings, specifications, and change orders to verify completeness and accuracy of data according to designer’s drawings;
Utilizing CAD and Tekla software to produce technical drawings.
Collaborating with engineers to interpret design specifications and ensure alignment with project requirements.
Reviewing and adjusting drawings to meet industry codes, regulations and project standards.
Assist in communicating with project team members to coordinate drafting activities and resolve design related issues
Assisting in the preparation of design documentation, reports and presentations.
Learning and applying industry standards and best practices in structural drafting.
Adhering to company policies and safety guidelines throughout all tasks and projects
Company Description
Qualifications
Currently enrolled or recent graduate of post-secondary degree or equivalent, or certification from trade/technical school in a related discipline;
Knowledge of AutoCAD, Tekla and other similar tools is required.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, specifications, governmental regulations, drawings and job specifications;
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence;
Ability to speak effectively with customers.
