We are looking for an experienced Database Developer to join a non-profit organization in Mississauga, Ontario on a Long-term Contract basis. This position will play a key role in strengthening reporting capabilities by building reliable data solutions and translating business needs into effective Power BI outputs. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and modern reporting tools, along with the ability to work with finance-related datasets in a structured and accurate manner.

Responsibilities:
• Transform existing reporting assets into Power BI solutions, including redesigning selected reports and developing new dashboards where needed.
• Review current database queries, scripts, and reporting logic to identify opportunities for improved performance, accuracy, and maintainability.
• Build and refine Power BI data models to support clear, meaningful, and scalable reporting for business stakeholders.
• Use Power Query and related development techniques to prepare, shape, and connect data from multiple sources for analysis.
• Develop, test, and optimize SQL components such as stored procedures, complex queries, and database objects to support reporting needs.
• Partner with internal teams to deliver approximately 10 to 15 finance-focused reports with a high standard of quality and consistency.
• Contribute to reporting project planning by helping track priorities, timelines, and deliverables throughout the engagement.
• Support broader data and reporting initiatives by applying best practices in performance tuning, indexing, and data warehousing.
• Demonstrated experience as a Database Developer working with Microsoft SQL Server in reporting-focused environments.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Power BI, including data modelling and report development.
• Proficiency in Power Query (M) and T-SQL for data transformation, query creation, and database development.
• Experience creating and optimizing stored procedures, database objects, and complex SQL queries.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, indexing strategies, and reporting performance optimization.
• Ability to work with financial data and produce accurate, business-ready reports for finance stakeholders.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies and enterprise data tools such as Informatica or MapR is considered an asset.
