We are hiring a Controller to own the day-to-day financial health of our nonprofit. You will lead accounting operations, keep our books audit-ready, and give leadership and the Board clear, timely numbers to guide decisions. This is a remote role for someone based in the Vancouver area, with occasional in-person meetings.

What you will do

• Manage the full accounting cycle: AP/AR, payroll oversight, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close
• Prepare monthly financial statements and Board-ready reports with clear commentary
• Lead the annual budget process and track performance against it
• Account for restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and donations, including grant reporting to funders
• Coordinate the annual audit or review with external accountants
• Prepare or oversee CRA filings, including the T3010 charity return, GST/HST rebates, and payroll remittances
• Maintain strong internal controls and finance policies suited to a remote team
• Supervise and mentor junior finance staff or bookkeepers

What you bring

• CPA designation (CPA Canada / CPABC) or equivalent
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a senior or supervisory role
• Nonprofit or charity experience, including fund accounting and grant reporting
• Working knowledge of ASNPO and CRA requirements for registered charities
• Proficiency with cloud accounting tools (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero, or Sage Intacct) and Excel
• Clear communicator who can explain financials to non-finance staff and the Board
• Self-directed and organized in a remote environment
• Nice to have: experience with donor management systems
