Job Summary:

Robert Half Canada is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller on behalf of our client in the professional services industry. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and compliance. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to support strategic and operational decision-making in a dynamic business environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and supporting analysis
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Monitor financial performance and provide analysis to support leadership decision-making
• Coordinate external audits, tax support, and year-end working papers
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff as applicable
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and operational efficiency

Qualifications:

• CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting credential
• Progressive experience in accounting and finance, including leadership responsibility
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general accounting, and internal controls
• Experience preparing financial statements and supporting audit processes
• Proficiency with accounting systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in professional services, consulting, or a service-based environment is considered an asset
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
• Background in process improvement or systems implementation is an asset
