Our client is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting function for a lean manufacturing operation. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys being involved in both the strategic and day-to-day aspects of finance, while serving as a key business partner to operations and leadership.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Controller will oversee financial reporting, month-end close, manufacturing costing, forecasting, compliance, and general accounting activities for the business.

This is a highly visible role that offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a growing organization while gaining exposure to significant business initiatives and operational projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
• Manage general ledger activities and ensure the integrity of financial information
• Oversee manufacturing costing, inventory accounting, labour analysis, and overhead allocations
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
• Analyze operational and financial performance and provide actionable insights to management
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and corporate reporting requirements
• Partner closely with operational leaders to improve processes and financial visibility
• Support special projects, business initiatives, and due diligence activities
• Supervise and mentor one direct report

• Strong full-cycle accounting experience in a hands-on environment
• Proven experience managing month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred
• Understanding of costing, inventory, labour, work orders, and overhead allocations
• Experience within manufacturing, industrial, construction, or other operationally focused environments
• Advanced Excel skills
• Ability to work independently in a lean team environment
• CPA designation is considered an asset
