Interim Controller / Senior Accountant

Location: Markham, ON

Work Model: Onsite, 5 days per week

Duration: 3-month contract (potential for extension)

Position Overview

Our client in the CPG/manufacturing space is seeking a Controller / Senior Accountant for an immediate contract need. Working closely with the Director of Financial Reporting, this person will help drive consolidated reporting, support the integration businesses, and assist with leadership reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead consolidated financial reporting across multiple operating divisions and plant locations
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including review of reporting accuracy and completeness
• Coordinate financial inputs from divisional and plant finance teams and ensure timely submission of reporting packages
• Help transition newly integrated divisions into the company’s existing reporting framework and standards
• Prepare and analyze reporting for senior leadership, including recurring operational and cash flow reporting
• Perform reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve reporting issues across business units
• Support process improvements related to reporting, consolidation, and financial data integrity
• Partner with internal finance teams and contribute to audit support and broader controllership priorities as needed

Qualifications

• Experience in financial reporting, consolidation, or controllership within a large, multi-entity organization
• Strong background in manufacturing, CPG, or other plant-based environments
• Proven ability to work across multiple business units, controllers, and operating teams in a decentralized structure
• Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with reporting tools and data from multiple ERP systems
• Experience with tools such as Power BI, JDE, or similar financial/reporting platforms is an asset
• CPA preferred, though equivalent depth of experience will be considered
