Description
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the day-to-day direction of the accounting and payroll functions, providing guidance, review, and support to the team.
• Produce monthly financial reports for business units, assess performance trends, and communicate meaningful insights to leadership.
• Monitor liquidity needs and coordinate with head office to help ensure funds are managed effectively for ongoing operations.
• Evaluate current financial results against previous periods and prior-year performance, identifying and explaining significant variances.
• Lead audit preparation activities by organizing schedules, reviewing documentation, and coordinating responses to auditors.
• Maintain and refine costing approaches and product cost models to support accurate reporting and operational decision-making.
• Partner with finance leadership on strategic priorities, cross-functional initiatives, benchmarking analysis, and projects impacting financial and management accounting.
• Strengthen internal controls and promote efficient financial practices by identifying improvement opportunities and implementing practical solutions.
• Deliver ad hoc financial analysis for management, including support for cash flow tracking, plant performance metrics, expenditure reviews, and additional payment approval analysis where required.
• Proven experience in a Controller or senior finance leadership role with responsibility for accounting, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Strong background in monthly statement preparation, variance analysis, cash flow oversight, and audit coordination.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software systems and reporting tools, including exposure to platforms such as ADP, CRM systems, Crystal Reports, and 3M-related environments.
• Solid understanding of costing methods, budgeting processes, internal controls, and broader accounting functions.
• Demonstrated ability to perform ad hoc financial analysis and present clear, actionable recommendations to senior leaders.
• Excellent leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with operational teams, divisional leadership, and head office stakeholders.
