Our client is a well-established, third-party property management firm with decades of experience supporting stratas and property owners across the Lower Mainland and throughout BC. The company manages a large portfolio of strata properties as well as a handful of large residential rental properties. As the company continues to grow, they are looking to bring on a new Controller who is a progressive people leader and sophisticated accounting professional who can help lead the organization through its next phase of growth.

Reporting to the CEO, the Controller will lead a team of accountants, work closely with the property management team, and liaise directly with property owners as needed. Additionally, the Controller would be responsible for:

-         Financial leadership and reporting, overseeing the full-cycle of accounting for the properties and the preparation of monthly financial statements, and annual budgets and forecasts

-         Review of financial packages for boards, owners, and asset managers

-         Insight and analysis of cash flow and reserve funding

-         Lead, mentor, coach, and guide a team of 6-10 including the establishment of performance metrics, workflows, accountability, and team comradery

-         Ensure compliance with the Strata Property Act and relevant regulatory requirements

-         Oversight of revenue recognition, CAM and operating cost recoveries, and tenant reconciliations

-         Process and system improvements

-         Stakeholder management

As the ideal candidate you bring a positive outlook, high emotional intelligence, low ego, strong technical accounting skills, and a people first mindset. You enjoy stability, improving processes, and building teams. You are smart and thoughtful, consistent and reliable, yet flexible and adaptable.

Experientially you also bring:

-         A CPA Designation (or equivalent) or are in the late stages of the designation process

-         Significant experience working in the property management space

-         Experience with property management systems / ERPs a definite asset

-         Proven leadership experience

-         Ability to act as a senior leader within a growing business
