Controller – Construction Industry

Surrey, BC | Full-Time | On-Site

Robert Half Finance are seeking an experienced Controller from the construction industry to lead the finance function for a growing organization based in Surrey. Flexibility may be available for family obligations; otherwise, regular on-site presence is required. This position is currently vacant and we are looking for an ideal candidate to start asap.

To be considered, candidates should bring:

• Extensive accounting and finance leadership experience within a construction environment (minimum required 3+ years post CPA or management level experience in construction sector)
• Experience serving as the senior financial leader for an organization, with full ownership of the accounting function
• Proven experience managing and developing a team of 4–5+ accounting staff, including performance management
• Strong background in financial planning and analysis (FP& A), forecasting, and supporting strategic business decisions
• Experience working directly with ownership or executive leadership as a trusted financial partner
• Hands-on experience with month-end and year-end processes while overseeing day-to-day accounting operations
• Multi-entity accounting experience
• Strong project accounting and WIP reporting experience
• CPA designation preferred; however, significant heavy construction industry experience will be prioritized
• Ability to step into a vacant role and succeed in an environment that requires initiative, independence, and self-direction
