Description
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the organization’s financial results by tracking performance, identifying trends, and preparing meaningful analysis for leadership review.
• Produce monthly financial packages, key metrics, and management reports, ensuring information is accurate, well-organized, and delivered on schedule.
• Establish, maintain, and improve financial controls to support compliance with company standards and applicable regulations.
• Direct day-to-day accounting activities, including review of journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related entries, and required statutory filings.
• Lead, coach, and support the accounting team by setting expectations, developing capabilities, and promoting high-quality work.
• Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing supervision of accounting staff to build a strong and effective team.
• Maintain productive working relationships with banking contacts, suppliers, auditors, and other external financial stakeholders.
• Partner with external auditors and senior leadership to complete year-end reporting, tax filings, and other compliance requirements in a timely manner.
• Degree in business, accounting, or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, with solid knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or management capacity.
• Progress toward or completion of an accounting designation is considered an asset.
• Familiarity with federal, provincial, and local reporting obligations and financial compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with close attention to detail and an understanding of broader business impacts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, along with experience using accounting and reporting systems.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate with senior leadership and internal teams.
• Experience in an automotive environment is preferred but not required.
