We are looking for an experienced Controller to join an automotive organization in Stratford, Ontario for a short term Contract. This position will lead core accounting and finance operations, support sound financial decision-making, and ensure reporting is delivered accurately and on schedule. The successful candidate will work closely with leadership, banking partners, auditors, and internal stakeholders while strengthening financial controls and overall business performance.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the finance and accounting function, ensuring financial reports and statements are prepared accurately and submitted within required timelines for site leadership and corporate teams.

• Direct cash flow planning and daily treasury activities, including oversight of payables, receivables, financing arrangements, and short-term investments.

• Coordinate audit activities by serving as the primary contact for internal and external auditors and ensuring supporting documentation is complete and organized.

• Review and enhance financial control processes, providing guidance to management on compliance status, risk areas, and opportunities for improvement.

• Build and maintain effective working relationships with customers, suppliers, affiliated entities, banks, and other external business partners.

• Ensure compliance with applicable tax and trade obligations, including corporate income tax, sales tax, and customs-related requirements.

• Prepare and evaluate regular plan-versus-actual financial results, highlighting trends, explaining variances, and recommending corrective actions.

• Support the General Manager with ad hoc analysis, special assignments, and business reporting needed for operational and strategic decisions.

• Foster a safe, respectful, and positive workplace culture that supports team engagement and strong departmental performance.

• Proven experience in a Controller or senior finance leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong background in cost accounting and financial analysis, with the ability to interpret operational results and business trends.
• Demonstrated knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and cash flow management.
• Experience working with internal and external auditors, financial institutions, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of corporate taxation, sales tax compliance, and customs-related financial requirements.
• Advanced proficiency in accounting processes and financial management practices within a complex business setting.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to leadership teams.
