Change Manager – HCM Transformation (Contract)

Description
We are looking for an experienced Change Manager – HCM Transformation (Contract) to support a large healthcare organization undergoing post-implementation optimization of its enterprise HCM systems (Workday & UKG) in Toronto, ON through a 6-mon contract engagement. This role will guide change initiatives tied to HR, payroll, scheduling, and related enterprise processes, with a strong focus on improving adoption, reducing operational risk, and strengthening stakeholder confidence. The successful candidate will work closely with leaders, HR teams, payroll partners, and other key groups to assess the current environment, shape a practical change strategy, and help the organization make better use of its technology investments.
Location: Toronto, ON (hybrid – occasional onsite presence)
Duration: 6 months (Part-time, ~20 h/week; potential extension)
Responsibilities:
• Evaluate the current state of HR, payroll, and scheduling processes to identify change impacts, adoption gaps, and operational risks across the organization.
• Develop and lead a structured change management approach that supports optimization efforts already underway and aligns with broader business priorities.
• Partner with stakeholders across HR, payroll, management, and site leadership to define change scope, set priorities, and build engagement plans.
• Create clear communication materials that explain upcoming changes, business rationale, and expected outcomes for affected employee groups.
• Design and coordinate training and readiness activities that help managers and staff use new tools and processes with greater confidence.
• Support initiatives involving Workday and related workforce systems, including scheduling and payroll functions, to improve consistency and reduce manual workarounds.
• Monitor organizational readiness and adoption levels, then recommend actions to address resistance, process breakdowns, or compliance concerns.
• Contribute to risk mitigation planning for payroll and workforce-related changes to help ensure stable and accurate end-to-end operations.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to sustain momentum on optimization projects and support longer-term transformation goals.
Qualifications:
• 7+ years of experience in change management, preferably in complex unionized enterprise environments involving HR, payroll, or workforce systems. Healthcare or hospital sector experience is a strong asset.
• Hands-on experience supporting Workday HCM, Workday Payroll, Workday HRIS, or related Workday-integrated solutions as well as UKG, and prior exposure to workforce scheduling tools.
• Strong ability to build change strategies, communication plans, stakeholder engagement approaches, and training programs.
• Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional stakeholders, including HR, payroll, operations, and leadership teams.
• Knowledge of ERP or cloud-based business systems and their impact on process adoption, governance, and user readiness.
• Excellent communication and planning skills, with the ability to translate complex change into practical actions for diverse audiences.
• Experience in healthcare, hospital, unionized, or similarly regulated environments would be considered a strong asset.
• Ability to work part-time hours, approximately 20 hours per week, with occasional onsite presence.
