Ceridian Dayforce Optimization Consultant (Contract)

Location: Remote (may require periodic travel to Southwestern Ontario, Kitchener/Waterloo Region.

Duration: 3 months with potential for extension

Work Hours: Full-time hours also open to fractional or part-time options.

Our client, an established organization operating in a regulated and process-driven environment, is seeking a Ceridian Dayforce Optimization Consultant to support a post-implementation review.

The ideal consultant will bring strong functional expertise in Ceridian Dayforce, particularly within payroll and workforce management, and will be comfortable stepping into an environment that requires immediate troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and practical solutions. This role will suit someone who can work independently, engage effectively with stakeholders, and help restore confidence in payroll operations and system controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform a detailed assessment of the current Dayforce environment, including payroll setup, workflows, business rules, and system configuration
• Identify root causes of configuration, process, or control failures and recommend practical corrective actions
• Review current controls, exception handling, approval paths, and system alerts to determine where safeguards need to be strengthened
• Evaluate payroll and workforce management setup for employee groups, including more complex or rules-based populations where applicable
• Recommend and support enhancements to improve payroll accuracy, workflow effectiveness, and overall system reliability
• Develop testing approaches and validation procedures to confirm fixes are working as intended
• Support issue resolution by coordinating between internal stakeholders and external Dayforce support resources where needed
• Create documentation covering current issues, recommended changes, updated processes, and future-state controls
• Provide user guidance, training, and knowledge transfer to internal teams to improve system understanding and adoption

Qualifications

• Proven experience with Ceridian Dayforce, including post-implementation support, optimization, troubleshooting, or stabilization work
• Strong background in payroll operations, workforce management, and Dayforce system configuration
• Experience investigating payroll discrepancies, control gaps, workflow issues, and employee pay exceptions
• Ability to identify configuration-related issues and translate findings into practical system and process improvements
• Understanding of approval flows, exception reporting, controls, and validation methods within payroll environments
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across payroll, HR, finance, and technology teams
• Experience developing testing plans, process documentation, and user training materials
• Comfortable acting as a functional subject matter expert in a consulting capacity
• Exposure to regulated, unionized, public sector, utility, infrastructure, or similarly structured environments is an asset
