THE ROLE:

Are you a hands-on accounting leader ready to support a client on a long-term contract? Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join their finance team and play a key role in financial reporting, month-end close, process improvement, and team leadership. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership while supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing organization.

What You'll Do:

• Support the oversight of day-to-day accounting operations and full-cycle accounting functions
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including a September 30 fiscal year-end
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and budgeting analysis
• Manage account reconciliations, including intercompany transactions and multiple bank accounts
• Review journal entries, general ledger activity, and financial data accuracy
• Assist with audit preparation and ensure compliance with internal controls and reporting requirements
• Provide leadership, coaching, and support to a small accounting team
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and overall financial efficiency

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• CPA designation preferred or working toward completion
• 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience
• Strong background in full-cycle accounting, month-end close, and financial statement preparation
• Experience with intercompany reconciliations and account reconciliations
• Proficiency with ERP systems, including Sage 300, and advanced Excel skills
• Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, GST, and corporate accounting practices
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience considered an asset
