THE ROLE:

Our Public Sector client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join their team for a 9-12 month project engagement. This fully remote opportunity is open to candidates across Canada, with work performed during Mountain Standard Time (MST) business hours. This role will play a key part in supporting complex financial reporting, large-scale reconciliations, and the oversight of senior accounting resources.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and support month-end and year-end accounting activities
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and working papers
• Oversee complex, high-volume data analysis and reconciliation projects
• Coordinate the preparation and review of financial statements and supporting schedules
• Contribute to note disclosures and Management Discussion & Analysis (MD& A) documentation
• Research and interpret accounting standards and provide recommendations as required
• Review the work of Senior Accountants and provide guidance on technical accounting matters
• Support special projects and process improvement initiatives within a complex financial environment

ABOUT YOU:

You are a designated CPA with a strong background in financial reporting and complex accounting environments. You thrive when working with large data sets, can confidently navigate ambiguity, and possess the analytical skills required to solve challenging accounting issues. Known for your attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities, you are comfortable leading others while remaining hands-on in the day-to-day accounting function.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• CPA designation is required
• 5+ years of post-designation accounting experience
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong financial statement preparation and financial reporting expertise
• Experience reviewing and mentoring intermediate or senior accounting staff
• Advanced Excel skills with demonstrated experience manipulating and analyzing large data sets
• Proven ability to work with complex accounting issues and large-scale reconciliations
• Experience with Tier 1 ERP systems
• Strong research and technical accounting capabilities
• Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) experience is highly preferred
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
