We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to lead financial operations and provide clear, reliable reporting for leadership and governance groups in Ottawa, Ontario. This position is suited to a collaborative leader who can guide a finance team, strengthen controls, and translate complex financial information into practical business insight. The successful candidate will play an important role in planning, audit coordination, process improvement, and the ongoing development of efficient accounting practices.

Responsibilities:

• Produce and present monthly financial results, analysis, and supporting commentary to management, executives, provincial partners, and the Board of Directors.

• Oversee daily accounting activities across the finance function, reviewing transactions, workflows, and staff output to maintain accuracy and efficiency.

• Guide audit preparation for interim and year-end reviews, working closely with external auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth process.

• Partner with senior finance leaders to communicate audit outcomes and key financial matters to the Audit Committee and Board of Directors.

• Evaluate opportunities to improve finance operations through technology, including supporting accounting system implementation or upgrades and related process enhancements.

• Approve and enforce accounting policies, procedures, reconciliations, and control activities to support compliance and dependable financial reporting.

• Prepare cash flow analysis and develop ad hoc financial reports to support planning, decision-making, and operational needs.

• Strengthen internal control practices and financial risk management measures to promote sound stewardship of organizational funds.

• Lead, coach, and develop Finance Unit employees through recruitment, training, performance management, and succession planning initiatives.

Key Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Finance and Accounting.

• Chartered Accountant designation.

• At least 7 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.

• Minimum 5 years of supervisory or people leadership experience.

• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit practices.

• Experience working with financial software, ERP platforms, and tools such as Microsoft Office; exposure to systems such as ADP, BlackLine, or Concur is an asset.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data, identify issues and trends, and recommend practical solutions.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
