Our client is looking for an entry-level Accountant to join a collaborative team in Calgary, Alberta on a long-term contract basis. This role supports accounts payable and treasury functions, with a focus on invoice processing, bank reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and vendors while supporting day-to-day accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

• Process vendor invoices by reviewing documentation, coding transactions, and entering invoices into the ERP system.
• Monitor the accounts payable inbox and respond to vendor inquiries.
• Process a variety of invoice types while ensuring accuracy and supporting documentation.
• Complete daily and periodic bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Reconcile incoming payments, cash deposits, and cheque activity.
• Support cheque handling, deposits, and treasury administration.
• Assist with cash controls, safe management, and user access administration.
• Support process improvement initiatives related to accounts payable and payment workflows.
• Collaborate with the accounting team while maintaining appropriate segregation of duties. 

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, accounts payable, treasury, or a related finance role.
• Experience with accounts payable processing, including invoice coding, three-way matching, and ERP systems.
• Strong bank reconciliation skills with the ability to investigate payment and cash discrepancies.
• Ability to learn new systems quickly and adapt to multiple accounting functions.
• Understanding of accounts payable within the broader accounting cycle.
• Strong communication skills when working with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborative team player with the ability to work in a shared accounting environment.
• Proficiency in Excel and financial systems with strong attention to detail.
