Dieppe is also the largest predominantly French-speaking city in Canada outside of Quebec. The subject of equality between the two linguistic communities has been topical for decades and mandatory bilingual signage, a first in the province, was voted by the municipal council in 2010.

Dieppe has an industrial park. Paper converting, construction equipment manufacturing, and food processing are among the main industries.
The city has many businesses, some of which are located at Place Champlain, the largest shopping center in New Brunswick.
Dieppe is well served in terms of transport. Several major roads pass through or near the city. On its territory is the Roméo LeBlanc International Airport of Greater Moncton.
