Conception Bay South, commonly known by its initials C.B.S, is a city in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is located on the south shore of Conception Bay in the Avalon Peninsula on the island of Newfoundland. It is located approximately 20 km southwest of St. John's, Newfoundland and is part of the St. John's metropolitan area.
Its population is over 27,000 people.
The city's economy is mainly based on tourism, but the majority of it’s residents work in St. John's.
Conception Bay South is the largest community on the Admirals Coast and offers many amenities for tourists visiting the area.
The town is one of the few with a geological attraction, namely the trilobite fossil beds along the Manuels River Linear Park
The town also has a marina at Foxtrap.
A popular seaside attraction is Topsail Beach, at the east end of town. Topsail Beach Park is the northern start of the East Coast Trail. Lobster trapping is also a common sight.
Conception Bay South also hosts the famous Kelligrews Soiree folk festival and garden party.
