Description
In anticipation of future needs Robert Half is currently seeking Sr. Non-Profit Accountants throughout the Edmonton region.
As a Sr. Non-Profit Accountant your day to day responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations.
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions in Raiser Edge, including gift processing, pledge tracking, and donor management.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to support decision-making processes and ensure financial stability.
- Collaborate with development and fundraising teams to track donor contributions, grants, and restricted funds in accordance with donor agreements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and grant requirements, including GAAP and IRS guidelines.
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, professional development, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support external audits, grant reporting, and other compliance activities as needed.
A successful Sr. Non-Profit Accountant will possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in non-profit accounting, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis.
- Intermediate experience in Excel and Microsoft Office Applications.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Raiser Edge or similar donor management software, with a strong understanding of its functionality and integration with accounting systems.
- Thorough knowledge of non-profit accounting principles, fund accounting, and grant management.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data and trends to inform decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven leadership abilities, with experience supervising and mentoring staff members.
