Your daily role

As part of its Research & Development activities, Nortera would like to offer an internship in Microbiology & Food Safety to join us.



Here are the main subjects of this internship:
- Study of the microbial load of vegetable washing/transport water;
- Development - validation of the analytical method to be used;
- Perform microbiological analyses of products and production environment;
- Evaluation of the efficacy of antimicrobial products;
- Improvement of documentation/data processing tool for microbiological results;
- Analysis of results;
- Produce a technical reference document.



Various tasks will be carried out during this internship (independently, but with supervision):
- Sampling and microbiological analysis of samples (products and environment) (e.g. culture and PCR techniques);
- Management of samples and results with external and internal laboratories;
- Participate in improving documentation/data processing of microbiological results.
- Follow-up with sites to document non-conformities;
- Analyze results and propose potential improvements to the microbiological monitoring program;
- Literature reviews;
- Consolidate the knowledge of in-house experts at the various plants.

Your profile

- You are serious, rigorous and autonomous;
- You are able to communicate in English and French;
- You are pursuing an undergraduate degree in Microbiology or Biotechnology.


Period and location
- 3 to 4 month internship starting in late August or early September 2023;
- Internship planned on the Ste-Martine, QC site, with the possibility of travel to the Bedford, Qc site and occasional remote work.
