Position: Legal and Compliance Officer
Location: Toronto

Be a part of creating a new and exciting initiative as a Legal and Compliance Officer, where you will report directly to our Chief Financial Officer and Partner at Quantum. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring our company's operations align with the highest standards of legal and regulatory compliance.
Position Overview:

As a Legal and Compliance Officer, you will be committed to legal excellence and adherence to industry regulations. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing compliance policies, staying updated on relevant laws, providing legal advice, and ensuring contractual alignment with organizational policies. Additionally, you will lead the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) program.
Legal Compliance:

- Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures
- Stay abreast of relevant laws and regulations affecting the company's operations
- Provide legal advice on compliance-related matters and interpret regulatory requirements
- Ensure contracts align with organizational policies and legal requirements

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI):

- Develop and implement comprehensive DEI strategies aligned with organizational goals
- Collaborate with HR leadership to integrate DEI initiatives into HR policies and practices
- Educate management teams on compliance policies and legal requirements

Auditing and Reporting:

- Establish and implement an auditing system to track compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies
- Prepare regular reports for senior management detailing the status of compliance initiatives and any identified issues
- Conduct internal investigations in response to compliance concerns or alleged violations
- Collaborate with relevant departments to develop and implement corrective action plans.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in law
- 2-3 years of experience as a practicing lawyer
- Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards (Ontario and Quebec specific)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven experience in compliance roles, with a focus on legal aspects is considered an asset
