Description
Under direct supervision of the Financial Controller/HR Manager at CPS Industries, the Assistant Controller/Junior Accountant will be responsible for all accounting tasks, including daily transactions, month-end closing, payroll, account receivables, account payables, and Administrative & Human Resources tasks.
The candidate will be preparing periodic financial statements, annual financial reviews. On routine basis, the candidate will assist the Controller in validating financial data, performing ad-hoc financial analysis & presentation reporting to Senior Management.
The candidate’s responsibility is to ensure that the company complies with government regulations and tax requirements. The incumbent will assist the Controller/HR Manager on all HR processes including H&S guidelines, procedures and policies.
The candidate should have a good sense of priority & autonomy, experience in Manufacturing Industry, ERP Accounting & Financial Reporting, Payroll Software, Proficiency in MS Office, and more.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Producing periodic financial statements and reports
• Reporting weekly and monthly analysis to controller
• Providing financial analysis upon request
• Preparation of documents for annual external audits
• Full monthly accounting protocols including bank reconciliations
• Performing day-to-day accounting transactions
• Monitoring daily banking & budget
• Monthly yearly tax & payroll reports and payments
• Overseeing the inventory activities & analysis
• Calculating production cost
• Coordinating with the Buyers /contract admin regarding pricing billing accuracy
• Accounts receivable emails & follow ups
• Accounts Payable emails and follow ups
• Ensuring payment of accounts payable and GST-QST
• Monthly management reports RRSP/Union fees vac accruals
• With the HR manager development policies and procedures for Human Resources. Training manuals, Hiring policies, labour requirements, retention, retirement & succession plan. Updating of documentation
• Assisting HR Manager with H&S policies, & projects for improvement
• Development & updating training manuals & other HR documentation
• Maintaining or developing tools or software to support procedures & trainings
• Maintaining administration of training program
• Verifying that all procedures & protocols comply with Union agreement
• Performing other related duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED & CONDITIONS
Education, experience, knowledge and skills
• College or University diploma in Accounting or Business Administration
• 3-5 years of relevant HR experience ideally in manufacturing (best practices)
• Knowledge of accounting concepts 3-5 years’ experience
• Knowledge government, payroll, and sales taxes
• Knowledge of the industry is an asset
• Management & Leadership Experience
• Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, ERP, payroll applications, Internet)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Bilingual (French and English)
