Our client in Calgary is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Analyst to join their team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong proficiency in Excel. This individual will play a key role in supporting our finance department by providing accurate and timely financial analysis, reporting, and support.


Responsibilities:
- Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for management review.
- Analyze financial data and trends to identify opportunities for cost savings or process improvements.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on financial goals and objectives.
- Assist with ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned by management.


Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (vlookup, pivot tables, etc.).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Available to start immediately.


Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA designation or progress towards CPA certification.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills (macros, complex formulas, etc.).
