What is Holiday Pay?

If you are required to work on a holiday, you are entitled to an alternate day off or additional compensation, at the discretion of your employer. If you are given a day off, it must be taken within the three weeks preceding or following the holiday on which you worked, except in the case of the National holiday.

If you’re on vacation when a holiday passes, or a holiday doesn’t end up being a workday for you, you are also entitled to monetary compensation or an alternative day off, also at the discretion of your employer.
