Pharmacy technical assistant

Do you have a strong sense of responsibility and organization? Do you enjoy working with the public? If you answered yes to these questions, you may want to consider pursuing a career as a pharmacy technical assistant!

The pharmacy technical assistant is responsible for helping the pharmacist fill prescriptions, updating client files and handling sales and prescription distribution to clients.

Training requirements:

  • Professional diploma (DEP) in pharmacy technical assistance

Average hourly wage for a full-time pharmacy technical assistant: $17.26

With experience, you could advance to become the head technical assistant, trainer of technical assistants or technical analyst. You can also become a pharmacy technician by taking the required classes as part of a college diploma (DEC) in pharmacy techniques.

Delivery specialist (specific license required)

If you enjoy driving, are good at managing your stress while behind the wheel and a stickler for punctuality, then becoming a driver and delivery specialist might be for you!

Driver-deliverers can work as independent contractors or as salaried employees for small to large retail businesses. They drive cars, light trucks and other vehicles as they pick up and deliver products to customers.

Training requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Driver’s license for the specific vehicle
  • A clean driving record may be required

Average hourly wage for a full-time driver-deliverer: $15.71

Driver-deliverers can move up to become a truck driver in the transportation sector. Truck drivers also pick up and move products from one place to another, but the range of working time can vary from a few hours to several days at a time, for example during international travel.

Pharmacist

Are you a warm, welcoming person and a good listener? If so, you may be interested in working as a pharmacist in the medical sector.

The main tasks of pharmacists involve validating that the medicine prescribed by the doctor to the patient is appropriate and adjusting or extending the duration of a prescribed medication. They may also prescribe laboratory tests or another medication, for which no medical diagnosis is necessary.

Pharmacists also offer consultation services for the use of medications and other health-related questions for all types of clients.

Training requirements:

  • Doctorate (Pharm. D.)
  • Master of Pharmacotherapy

To practice as a pharmacist in Quebec, one must obtain an operating permit from l’Ordre des pharmaciens du Quebec.

Seamstress

Being a seamstress requires manual dexterity, close attention to detail and excellent sewing skills. If you’re a creative person with an interest in fashion or textiles, this job could be for you!

The seamstress adjusts, modifies or repairs all types of clothing for clients. They may also act as a stylist for clients, and produce bespoke clothes for special orders.

If you have a strong sense of attention to detail and possess team spirit, you may want to consider becoming a clerk who processes online orders.

The clerk is in charge of processing online orders and the shipping and receiving of goods. They are also responsible for ensuring that customer orders are correctly processed before being shipped.

Training requirements: Secondary school education

Average hourly wage for a full-time clerk: $13.95

With experience, you could rise to become a warehouse manager or director of logistics. The warehouse manager ensures that the company receives, stores and delivers products efficiently to their destinations, whether for a unique customer or another organization. The director of logistics is responsible for managing the entire logistic chain of a company, from sourcing from suppliers to the delivery of goods to intermediaries or end customers, all while managing inventory.
