ERP Implementation Testing Lead (Contract)

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced ERP Implementation Testing Lead (Contract) to join a critical North American SAP deployment project. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the business-side testing workstream for a high-profile ERP transformation on an accelerated timeline.

The successful consultant will take ownership of the organization's testing strategy, governance, readiness, and execution oversight, ensuring that testing activities remain on track and that business stakeholders are prepared for a successful deployment. The project is currently entering a compressed testing cycle consisting of: Unit Testing, End-to-End Testing and Operational Testing.

Position Overview

The Testing Lead will act as the business-side owner of the testing workstream, ensuring the organization is fully prepared to execute testing successfully. This individual will not be responsible for executing test scripts or performing functional ERP activities. Instead, they will provide testing leadership, governance, coordination, readiness oversight, defect management, stakeholder alignment, and escalation support across all project workstreams. The successful consultant must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced project environment, driving accountability, managing multiple dependencies, and proactively identifying risks before they impact testing timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Finalize and document the overall testing strategy
• Establish testing methodology, governance processes, and reporting structures
• Recommend and implement appropriate testing tools (e.g., SAP Cloud ALM, Excel-based frameworks)
• Define testing standards, practices, and execution approach
• Monitor progress and provide regular status reporting, risk assessments, and mitigation plans
• Ensure all testing prerequisites are completed before each testing phase begins
• Confirm master data readiness and availability
• Validate test data preparation and completeness
• Ensure test scenarios and scripts are prepared and approved
• Coordinate readiness activities across business and project teams

Required Qualifications

• Experience serving as a Testing Lead / Test Manager
• Strong ERP testing governance experience
• Experience developing testing strategies, methodologies, and governance frameworks
• Demonstrated success managing business-side testing activities across complex ERP programs
• Experience coordinating multiple cross-functional teams and stakeholders
• Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills
• Experience holding System Integrators accountable for testing deliverables and issue resolution
• Exceptional facilitation, leadership, and organizational skills
