Our client is seeking a Tax Manager for a 6 month contract with the potential to become a permanent full-time position. Reporting to the VP, Tax, the key job responsibilities include the following:

• Manage indirect tax compliance, including US and Canadian sales taxes filings, exemption governance, and refund initiatives.

• Support the company’s worldwide research and development tax credit applications and filings, collaborate with external advisors and internal teams to ensure the accuracy and justifiability of claims.

• Oversee Canadian income tax provision and compliance.

• Manage external and regulatory audits and examinations as required, ensuring appropriate audit documentation is available.

• Collaborate with operational teams to provide practical, solution-oriented tax guidance on commercial transactions and corporate growth.

• Identify tax planning opportunities and operational improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and automation in an expanding and growing business.

To be considered for this opportunity, you are a designated accountant (CPA or equivalent) with 5+ years of tax experience.

In addition, the following skills and experience are desired:

• Indirect sales tax experience (especially US sales and state tax)

• Experience with T2 tax returns, SRED tax filings and tax provision & compliance experience

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Can work independently and be accountable

• Strong work ethic

• Very good organizational skills and able to build strong working relationships with different internal stakeholders

• Flexible and advanced Excel skills
